This is the most varied page: medical anthropology, history of medicine, mathematics education and learning sciences, social and cultural psychology, sociology, East Asian studies, comparative literature, law and philosophy. The 16 open programmes here are at Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles, The Ohio State University, King's College London (KCL), Cardiff University and other universities; 8 accept applicants straight from a bachelor's degree; 3 state full funding.
In the humanities and social sciences, the writing sample often says more than grades: a course paper or thesis chapter revised to stand on its own, ideally close to the supervisor's area. Many programmes also welcome interdisciplinary backgrounds.
For many of the programmes we work with, you can interview with a prospective supervisor before the formal application. Tell us your major, grades and the question you want to research, and we will check which programmes fit.
